sweeter than heaven and hotter than hell.

My video inspiration for this week. New Florence and The Machine video for Drumming Song is just amazing. Her hair is getting redder and redder and I like it more and more. I want to share a flat with you, Flo, so we can exchange outfits and dye each other’s hair redder and redder every month, you wonderfully dressed and talented indie pop fairy with one of the best voices in music industry.

the importance of being studded.

I was oh-so-sick of not having my own pair of studded shoes. Although where I live, not a trend yet (I wonder if it ever will be), I had to have them. I purchased these basic sandals for € 5 in Tesco. The brand is Cherokee, the heel is not a killer heel. Good points for me.

They are simple but boring. Now the metamorphosis part:
ALL you need is some super glue and the belt from your punk past. Voila:

I wore them today with black shorts and shoulder-zipper 80s alike black t-shirt and leopard printed bag. I’m glad people kept turning their heads on me.
More studded DIY accesory’s on the way, I promise.

Fall campaigns over the years - Burberry.

Although I don’t approve HATRED for certain things, the one I cannot stand is summer. Very hot weather makes me cry, and more importantly, think of fabulous trenchcoats, blazers, berets and boots. I love summer issues of VOGUE I purchase on my foreign holidays but I love fall issues of VOGUE I buy at home even more. Fall campaigns - that is closely watched interest of mine. I chose Burberry, the winner over last years but (I think) a loser this year. Read on...
2007: Kids are alright!
2007 saw an emergence of what the fashion probably have never seen before: a short-haired masculine yet feminine girl wearing The Clash t-shirt and Gucci handbag, with an interest in house design. In 2007, new generation of models seemed something different from past years. No more heroin chics and cocaine scandallers. No more of "You know, I’m just an ordinary girl from the eastern Europe in jeans and a t-shirt." What came instead was a powerful combination of strong look and to-the-public very interesting personal style. Agyness Deyn, to me still seems as the most perfect choice for Fall Burberry campaign - with her love for the oldies (The Clash, of course) but future-forwarded look.
2007 also was the year of tough punky chic look. From that on, it still continues. Maybe it wouldn’t be that popular, if Agy wouldn’t stroll the catwalks, red carpets and party floors.

2008: Under control
Elegant, simple and oh-so-british. 2008 fall Burberry campaign featured Sam Riley, the star of 2007 Anton Corbijn’s masterpiece Control and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The simple photoshoot located in Kensington Gardens in London, recalls cool british autumn times by all means. Foggy weather, but more importantly, timeless trenchcoats & coats with a superb but small ’heavy metal’ touch.
2008 fall collection forecasted the future of Burberry. Less punkie and more conservative and classic items. It’s upon you, a dear reader, to decide if it’s any good.
2009: A magical actress with an ordinary look?
I cannot help myself but this year’s Burberry fall campaign is quite a disaster. Where are the exciting shots filled with fresh air of 70s glam & punk feeling? What has been done with the mystery of British romantic autumn weather I praise so much? Emma Watson might be a good actor (I’m not here to judge that), but definitely as proven on the photos beneath, she is not a good model. What strikes me most of all is her facial expression. Is she smiling? Or is she trying to look ’natural’? In a way, her facial expression resembles me of Leonardo’s paintings (like you don’t know what Mona Lisa is thinking about). Otherwise, miss Watson was a bad step forward.
I am not excited by the clothing line either. The dust is falling on brain of the creative director Christopher Bailey. Chris, I wish the dust was the diamond or the golden one... This season, unfortunately it’s the dust of ordinary life.

And what do you think about new Burberry line and campaign? Which Burberry fall campaign is your favourite?

geek is chic.

Just returned from France with a new piece of stylish accesory. This time, and for the very first time, glasses. A bit geek and statement ones. My sister said she cannot take her eyes off my white glasses.

melodies & desires.

Newies in my wardrobe:

1) actually I don’t know how to call the first thing... it’s quite big and wide, which is good. It looks nice with a pair of jeans and simple black trousers or just bodysuit and grey tights underneath. Perfect for my MGMT inspired outfit. The brand is Missoni and it’s probably my first designer piece;

2 ) and sixties-alike dress. I love the texture, so girly, reminds me of my childhood:

I payed € 6.45 for both. Missoni itself cost € 3.15. Amazing, non?

one day we’re gonna live in Paris, I promise.

So I’m off to Paris very soon - this Tuesday, 4th of August. I already stuffed my mp3 player with various Francoise Hardy and Jacques Dutronc compilations, didn’t forget about Empire of the Sun (in case of 35 degrees Celsius weather, an ideal music) and Jefferson Airplane (accompanied me all the way to Italy last year).
My biggest problem as usual is ’How much money?’ and ’Will I turn again into impulsive young lady without grey brain cells?’. Whenever on foreign journeys, I buy lots of things, well, magazines, books, accesories, not that much of clothes and shoes really. Last time I returned home from Manchester thinking about the cheap cheap dress in Primark, the amazing blazer in Topshop and the perfect boots in Urban Outfitters. Damn moi, I spent all the cash through first three days.
I WANT TO BECOME A BETTER, NON-IMPULSIVE, MORE FASHION-ORIENTED BUYER.

And this is my very Parisian wishlist (as to "prove" the official statement above, my wishlist contains again a book and an accesory...):
I hope to find a breath-taking second-hand bookstore with thousands of good books at good prices. Charles Baudelaire is one of the first things that come to my mind when hearing ’Paris’, therefore the purchasing of his greatest piece of work, ’Fleurs du mal’ in French.

An absolute TOP of all wishlist I have ever created for myself. I’ve been yearning for Mona Lisa canvas tote bag for too long now. There is a nasty procedure after buying this - I plan to scribble L.H.O.O.Q. down there and draw a nice moustache over her lips. If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, teach yourself.

With a tight budget, I hope to get at least stuff above. And a pair of cool shoes or dress.

PS. I hope to write some posts about my visit in Paris and show you photos. Do you want some?
